Everything people ask before they book

Below are the questions our dispatch team hears most often, grouped by topic. If you don't see your answer here, call us at (269) 388-8586 and we'll walk you through it.

Part 1

Pricing & booking

How much does a dumpster rental cost in Kalamazoo?

Most rentals run $350 to $750, depending on the container size, the type of debris you're disposing of, where in Kalamazoo County you're located, and how long you keep the container.

What factors affect the price the most?

Size is usually the biggest factor, followed by debris type — construction debris and heavier material generally cost more to dispose of than household junk. Delivery location and rental duration also play a role.

How long can I keep the dumpster?

The standard rental period is 7 days. If your project runs longer, extensions are available on request — just let our dispatch team know before the 7 days are up.

How do I book a dumpster?

Call (269) 388-8586, tell us your project and location, and our dispatch team will confirm a size and delivery window on that call.

How do I pay?

We accept cash, credit and debit cards. Our dispatch team can walk you through the details when you call to book.

Part 2

Sizes & placement

What dumpster sizes do you offer?

Five sizes: 10, 15, 20, 30 and 40 yard, covering everything from a small cleanout to a full construction or demolition project.

What's a 10-yard dumpster good for?

A 10-yard is our smallest container, well suited to a small cleanout, a single-room remodel, or a modest yard-waste job.

When do I need a 15 or 20-yard dumpster?

A 15 or 20-yard handles most kitchen and bathroom remodels, roofing tear-offs, and mid-sized cleanouts — it's the size our dispatch team recommends most often.

What projects call for a 30 or 40-yard dumpster?

Whole-house renovations, new construction, major demolition and large property cleanouts usually need a 30 or 40-yard container for the volume of debris involved.

Where should the dumpster be placed on my property?

A driveway is usually the easiest spot — it's flat, accessible, and doesn't need a permit. We'll talk through placement with you before delivery if your property is tight on space.

Part 3

Permits & placement rules

Do I need a permit to have a dumpster delivered?

Not on private property. A dumpster on your driveway or yard never needs a permit, anywhere in our service area.

When would I need a permit?

Only if the container has to sit on a public street. In the city of Kalamazoo, that requires a temporary permit from the City of Kalamazoo; in the townships, road and right-of-way rules apply instead of a city's own process.

Do permit rules differ between cities and townships?

Yes. Incorporated cities and villages like Kalamazoo, Portage, Parchment, Galesburg, Richland and Vicksburg each have their own city or village rules, while the five townships — Comstock, Oshtemo, Texas, Kalamazoo and Cooper — follow township road rules instead.

Part 4

Service area

What towns does Trent Bros Dumpster Rental serve?

All 11 municipalities in Kalamazoo County: the cities of Kalamazoo, Portage, Parchment and Galesburg; the villages of Richland and Vicksburg; and Comstock, Oshtemo, Texas, Kalamazoo and Cooper townships.

What's the difference between the cities and villages you serve and the townships?

Cities and villages are self-governing incorporated municipalities with their own local government, while townships are Michigan's default county subdivision — still real local government, just a different legal structure. It's a genuine distinction, not just a naming difference.

Which towns get same-day delivery?

Portage, south Kalamazoo, Comstock Township and Kalamazoo Township are closest to our yard and usually same-day. Galesburg, Parchment, Richland, Vicksburg, Oshtemo Township and Texas Township are farther out and more often next-day.

Is my address inside your service area?

If you're anywhere in Kalamazoo County's 11 cities, villages and townships listed above, yes. If you're not sure, call (269) 388-8586 and we'll tell you straight.

Part 5

What can and can't go in the dumpster

What can I put in the dumpster?

Wood, drywall, tile, flooring, furniture, yard waste, roofing materials and small appliances are all fine.

What's not allowed in the dumpster?

Paint, solvents and oils, tires, batteries, hazardous chemicals, gas cylinders and propane tanks, and medical waste can't go in a roll-off container.

What happens if prohibited material ends up in my order?

Let us know before delivery if you're unsure whether something belongs in the container — our dispatch team can tell you how to handle prohibited items separately.
